The purpose of the Altar Guild is to lovingly serve God at His altar and in the sacristy. The Guild is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and the appearance of this portion of the church. This includes taking care of the altar, linens, silver used for communion and the brass and oil candles. The Guild also maintains supplies for communion, special services – such as palms for Palm Sunday – and other items related to worship. The Altar Guild is integral to the flow of worship in the church.
LICENSED LAY MINISTRY
Members may be called to serve God in many capacities. One of them is “Licensed Lay Ministry”. The role licensed lay ministers play is an essential part of the public ministry of the Church. Those called to serve in these roles are trained and provided continuing education and guidance. These are the Licensed Lay Ministers for our parish:
Administer Consecrated Elements at the Holy Eucharist (i.e. “Chalice Bearers”)
Take Consecrated Elements to members of the congregation, who by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at services
WORSHIP LEADERS Regularly leads public worship (e.g. Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer) under direction of a cleric or other leader exercising oversight of the congregation
